Hong Kong International Airport

What do you think has kept your organisation so successful in what it does all these years?

Hong Kong International Airport is the third busiest international passenger airport and the world's busiest cargo airport in 2016. Timely investments have been made to meet future demand, including the opening of Midfield Concourse and the upcoming Terminal 1 and car park expansions. In the long run, the airport will expand into a three-runway system to serve 30 million additional passengers annually.

What latest innovations in products and services has your organisation introduced this year?

The HKG My Flight mobile app provides a one-stop portal for real-time information needed by passengers. An indoor wayfinding function has been added this year, with car park space pre-booking via My Flight to follow. A new smart luggage tag, which alerts passengers shortly before their bags arrive at the baggage reclaim carousel, is to be launched. We also launched HKairport eShop, an online shopping platform which allows passengers to order online and collect their purchases at HKIA in three hours.

An organisation is only as good as its people. So, how is your organisation investing in the next generation of leaders?

The Hong Kong International Aviation Academy was established by Airport Authority Hong Kong last year. It offers summer day camps, placement programmes, professional certificate courses and advanced studies. Four summer day camps have been completed, and a one-month certificate programme in airport services and operations, with a 12-month internship, has just commenced.
